STEM

The Boston PIC, in collaboration with the MassHire Metro North Workforce Board, convenes the Boston & Metro North STEM Network. The STEM Network is one of five regional networks in Massachusetts funded through the STEM Pipeline Fund of the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. The Network acts on the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council policy priorities – work-based learning for high school students, dual enrollment, computer science and engineering, as well as STEM-focused afterschool and summer programs. The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council leadership team includes PIC Board member and CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals Jeffrey Leiden.

In addition to the PIC and MassHire Metro North, the STEM Network is co-chaired by the Boston Public Schools, United Way, Bunker Hill Community College, and Boston After School and Beyond. This joint network is comprised of nearly 600 partners from the public education system, STEM businesses, out-of-school time programs, professional associations, philanthropy, and the community.
