College Going Studies
On November 17, the Boston Private Industry Council and the Center for Labor Market Studies released Getting to the Finish Line: A Seven Year Longitudinal Study of the Boston Public Schools Class of 2000. This study indicates that 35.5% of the graduates from the Boston Public Schools Class of 2000 who enrolled in college had earned a post-secondary degree by June of 2007.
Since the mid 1980s, the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University has produced a report on the education and employment activities of gradutes of the Boston Public Schools (BPS), nearly one year after high school graduation. Each year, the PIC staff conduct a phone survey of the previous years graduates during February and March, consistently reaching between 70% and 80% of the graduates.
The graph below summarizes the increasing postsecondary enrollment rates of BPS graduates over time.
