Jobs and Training for Adults

Boston has a number of programs that help individuals find a job or find a training program to learn a new skill or to improve an existing skill.  Some programs are for anyone and some programs have special experience in working with individuals with extra barriers to employment.

  • One-Stop Career Centers are the primary service provider of employment services in Boston and the main entry point for skills training programs. Boston has three career centers: Boston Career Link, JobNet, and The Work Place.   

  • HomeWork is a program that helps chronically homeless individuals find housing and employment. For more information on HomeWork, please contact the JobNet Career Center.

  • Many individuals have special concerns when looking for a job. Not everyone can present the same set of skills, abilities and life situations. The Boston Career Centers have special capacity and experience in working with individuals who can use some additional support and guidance during their job search. The following programs are designed to assist those with specific sets of circumstances. Homeless, Ex-Offenders, Disabilities, High School Drop-Outs, TANF Recipients, Non-Native English Speakers details on each program are at the career centers.

  • The One Stop Career Centers assist individuals interested in developing or improving their skills find a training program that fits their needs. The Career Centers have a full list of training programs in and around Boston. They assist individuals who need tuition assistance find a resource that might be right for them.
