Classroom at the Workplace: College Prep

Classroom at the Workplace 2Increasingly, PIC employers are making learning a part of the jobs they provide for high school students, Through the "Classroom at the Workplace: SAT Prep" program, students can prepare for college as part of their summer job. Students improve their academic skills in the context of the work experience, making them see the connection between education and career.

Holding the tutoring sessions at the workplace provides students with extra motivation. This formula works. Last summer, on average, students increased their SAT scores by an average of 77 points.

You can participate by hiring a student and providing time and space for him or her to attend class. The PIC takes care of the rest -- recruiting and preparing the students, hiring the tutors, and supplying the curriculum materials.

To sign up, or for more information, please contact Program Coordinator Elspeth Benard at elspeth.benard@bostonpic.org or 617-488-1335.
