Package Contents:
1. PowerPoint presentation

5. Online Job Application Workshop Feedback Form (Note: this is not a download; it is a link to the form – PLEASE give us feedback)
1. PowerPoint Presentation
The first document in the package is the PowerPoint presentation. It is self explanatory. Use it as you would use any PPT. It is worth noting that there have been occasions in the delivery of this workshop when the slide transition animations did not appear to respond quickly when advancing the slides. There are notes below about copyright protection of this workshop. However, altering or removing the animations to enhance the slide transitions is permissible.
When viewed in the “Notes Page” view, the PowerPoint contains the entire script for trainers. The script uses the following convention: instructions to trainers are enclosed in [brackets]. The script is also written using “we” and “our” pronouns. Adapt this as makes sense in your setting.

2. Practice Application
The second document in the package is a Practice Application developed by the Boston One Stop Career Centers. You are free to install this practice application on computers at your site or give customers/clients/students/participants so that they can practice completing the application on their own.
Please note that entries into the Practice Application are not saved but can be printed. However, pages can only be printed one at a time.
The Practice Application is provided as a “zip” file. To install it you have to extract the file (Windows operating systems have extractors built into them; if this does not work, you will need to use a commercial extraction program such as WinZip).

3. “Job Seeker Information Preparation Guide” title page
The 3rd document in this package is the title page for the Job Seeker Information Preparation Guide. Should you choose to provide this to participants, the Personal Information, Employment History, Volunteer Experience and Education History sections of the Practice Application can be printed (one page at a time) as a “stand alone” document which participants can complete so that they have their own reference guide with all the information they will need for the basic elements of most job applications. You can use this third document as the cover for that guide.
Once you click on Job Seeker Information Preparation Guide title page, click on the "save a copy" button
and save the file to a location where you will be able to easily locate it in the future.
4. Handouts: There are four handouts in PDF format
Once you click on a document link below, click on the "save a copy" button and save the file to a location where you will be able to easily locate it in the future.

5. Online Job Application Workshop Feedback Form
We are committed to the continuous improvement of this product. We are therefore dependent on your feedback to find out what “works” and what does not. We ask that after you have delivered the workshop – either once or several times – you take a few minutes to complete our Online Job Application Workshop Feedback Survey.
Changing the Presentation
In the “Notes View” in PowerPoint you’ll find a detailed script for the workshop. We think that all the information you need to present the workshop is contained in the notes and urge you to use them. However, we also recognize that your audiences may be different from ours and you may want to place greater emphasis on some of the information. In addition, there are constant changes in the evolving use of online job applications. Feel free to adapt the script as is appropriate for your situation. We ask that you not change the slides and if you make significant changes in the script that you let us know what changes you have made by completing the OJA Workshop Feedback Survey
Conventions Used in the Script
As noted above, the main convention used in the script is that instructions to trainers are enclosed in [brackets]. These comments are not part of the delivery script but should be used to guide you during the presentation.
While not a “convention”, we also want to note that there are several pages (5, 25-28) in the “Notes Page” view in which the representation of the slide has been resized to be smaller and the text has been reduced from a 12 to a 9 pt font. The script is particularly long on these 4 pages. As a result this accommodation had to be implemented.
Finally, some information is repeated several times throughout the presentation. This is purposeful. Experienced trainers know that this kind of repetition is important for all learners, both young and old. But we have tried to design the workshop so that individuals with limited experience delivering workshops will also be able to use it and wanted to be clear about this point.
Workshop Setup
This workshop is designed for 10-12 participants. While “previews” of the workshop for marketing and dissemination purposes have been presented to larger groups, the experience of the Boston One Stop Career Centers confirms that the workshop is most effective when presented to 10-12 participants. The workshop tends to run for about two hours but this may vary depending on how you choose to deliver it and the composition of your audience.
